Proper nounSingular Asia Plural - Asia
From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Asia is the world's largest and most populous continent. It covers 8.6% of the Earth's total surface area (or 29.9% of its land area) and with approximately 4 billion people, it accounts for 60% of the world's current human population. It is located chiefly in the eastern and northern hemispheres. Asia is traditionally defined as part of the landmass of Eurasia—with the western portion of the latter occupied by Europe—lying east of the Suez Canal, east of the Ural Mountains, and south of the Caucasus Mountains and the Caspian and Black Seas. It is bounded on the east by the Pacific Ocean, on the south by the Indian Ocean, and on the north by the Arctic Ocean. Given its size and diversity, Asia—a toponym dating back to classical antiquity—is more a cultural concept incorporating a number of regions and peoples than a homogeneous physical entity (see Subregions of Asia, Asian people). The wealth of Asia differs widely between, and within, states. This is due to its vast size, and huge range of different cultures, environments, historical ties and government systems. In terms of nominal GDP, Japan has the largest economy on the continent and the second largest in the world. In purchasing power parity term, however, the People's Republic of China has the largest economy in Asia and the second largest in the world. From Wikipedia under the

I divide the South East Asian countries into 3 groups. 1st group consists of Laos, Cambodia ,Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam.Though they speak different languages but they have cultures which are rather quite similar. All of them are pre-dominantly Buddhist countries and buddhist cultures are prominent there eventhough , Vietnam is much more influenced by Chinese cultures. These are countries considered as mainland South East Asian countries. From this group, you may pick Cambodia as it is quite a laid back country unlike Thailand. You'll be to experience what a poor country in South East Asia is like. 2nd group is the Malay archipelago which consists of Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei. Malay and Islamic cultures are prominent in… [cont.] Answered by chesney c - Mon Jun 16 05:15:04 2008 Is furniture made in Southeast Asia of good quality? Q. I am considering buying a bedroom set made by Magnussen Home. The set is made in Vietnam of solid hardwood. I am a little concerned that it my not be of great quality. I don't want to buy it if it is going to be a piece of junk that falls apart. Is furniture made in Southeast Asia of good quality? Or does the quality of the furniture depend more on material and quality of construction than it does on where it was built? Asked by senknfl - Wed Oct 31 15:37:12 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. I am in the furniture business and do carry Magnussen. 95% of all case goods are made there now. They make some very well built furniture. All dove tail joints on the drawers. Nice wood on wood guides. And very nice carvings on there pieces. What group are you interested in? The Valenza and Reflections are my favorites from them. Don't worry about where it is made just look at how it's made.
