A business (also called a company, enterprise or firm) is a legally recognized organization designed to provide goods and/or services to consumers. Businesses are predominant in capitalist economies, most being privately owned and formed to earn profit that will increase the wealth of its owners and grow the business itself. The owners and operators of a business have as one of their main objectives the receipt or generation of a financial return in exchange for work and acceptance of risk. Notable exceptions include cooperative enterprises and state-owned enterprises. Businesses can also be formed not-for-profit or be state-owned. The etymology of "business" relates to the state of being busy either as an individual or society as a whole, doing commercially viable and profitable work. The term "business" has at least three usages, depending on the scope — the singular usage (above) to mean a particular company or corporation, the generalized usage to refer to a particular market sector, such as "the music business" and compound forms such as agribusiness, or the broadest meaning to include all activity by the community of suppliers of goods and services. However, the exact definition of business, like much else in the philosophy of business, is a matter of debate. From Wikipedia under the

What course do you take to become a business analyst? Q. I came across a chart showing the avarage salaries of business analysts in IT/Computer software/Computer hardware. I do not know what a business analyst does exactly. What course should I take in college to become a business analyst. Currently I'm planing on getting a degree in Business with IT in college, will that enable me to become a business analyst? Asked by Wayne R. - Thu May 17 12:45:28 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. Yes, the courses you speak of will help you to become a Business Analyst. A BA can be on the client side or the IT side. If on the client side, they are interfacing with work group domains that process the work and review what they need. They generate requirements and then work with the IT side to update or generate processes and applications to fullfil the business needs. If you're a BA on the IT side of the house, then you're taking all the requirements and developing processes and application solutions. Your job is to work with the client to generate a business solutions document (there are many names for it) and get signoff. Then, you need to make sure that solution becomes reality by working with systems analysts, programmers,… [cont.] Answered by Zeltar - Thu May 17 14:02:04 2007 What business degree should I study in and where? Q. I am in the family business and my mom is clearly strained... We are blessed to have business hand over fist even in this recession but that is not my problem, or question... My question is how can a small business owner learn to lay back enjoy the fruits of their labor??? I mean she has owned this insurance agency for 30 yrs. and has nursed it from ONE policy to what it is today? But her health is declining as she is still trying to take payments, pictures of homes, etc. on what should be considered now at least a "mid sized" business? Asked by Sociopath - Mon Jun 8 14:42:42 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. It sounds like you are at that point. If it feels like too much, it probably is and if you are in the black, you can definitely outsource now. If you are concerned about handling the legal aspects, book keeping, etc. of a new hire, you can go through a temp. agency first. That way, you pay the agency and they handle payroll, etc. for their employee. The agency can coach you through it. You can always keep the person on, too, if it works out.
