What are the different schools of thought in Grand Theory?
Q. I have an assignment and can't figure out my reading. In trying to understand it, can someone that knows about Interdisciplinary Research tell me what are the different schools of thought in Grand Theory? My understanding was that all disciplines have a different school of thought. But they text mentions modernism, interpretivism, postmodernism and feminism. Is it that these are the encompassing schools of thoughts from which all other disciplines take off from? Is very confusing to me! Thank you for your blessed help.

What are some philosophical schools of thought on relationships?
Q. I am just recently opening my eyes to the wonders of philosophy. I also just got into a relationship. What are some schools of thought on how a romantic relationship should be dealt with? Like how to handle issues, how to connect better, ect. I want to inform myself of all the possibilities so that I may pick which I like for myself. Please stray from writing YOUR opinion.

A. There is a book by a man named Eckhart Tolle, it's called a New Earth. His insights into the human mind and ego were incredibly helpful to me in my life. He's terribly new agey, but if you can get past that, I promise his viewpoints are essential. He borrows some from the Buddhist view of life, without any sort of dogmatic or religious hoo hah. The destruction of the human ego is a very helpful path to take in life. I find his insights have given me a better outlook on life, one that is universal and not situational.

Q. my high school doesn't rank their students, only gives a GPA. if a college or university we'd like to apply to requires to know the class ranking, how would this affect our chances of being accepted? my school thinks that having class rankings creates unnecessary competition since most of us do well. also, do you only know your class ranking if you're valedictorian or salutatorian of your graduating class in this case?

A question for all philosophers of all schools of thought out there?
Q. Is it immoral to do nothing when someone else is suffering or being oppressed by a third party (when your action can stop it), regardless of whether or not you think the sufferer deserves it? This might extend beyond the individual and pertain to whole societies. For example, does a powerful nation like America have any obligation to stop genocide, however strongly Americans might be against it? Has any famous philosopher written about this?
Asked by Got rings this millennium? - Sat Oct 10 22:34:41 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I'm not a famous philosopher but i do want to know how we act. my personal answer is that it's natural but not moral. For most people will just leave someone to suffer then try to help. EX: When we someone being bullied what do most people do? Most would run away or get an adult. after math: (for running away) You just may have lost someone that may have been a good friend and let him suffer. (for adult) Makes things worst.(form experience) The last few people would help him even if they would get injured. Then even if your lost you made a friend.
